Earthquake 2025
On 28 March 2025, an earthquake measuring 7.7 on the Richter scale shook Myanmar. More than 3,300 people lost their lives and thousands were injured or left homeless. The Salvation Army provided immediate humanitarian aid on the ground.
Local teams distributed essential relief supplies such as drinking water, rice, cooking oil, blankets and mats in and around Mandalay – even in remote villages that were difficult to reach. Over 450 households received emergency aid. In addition, a longer-term disaster relief project for thousands more families has been launched. Co-financed by donations from Switzerland, The Salvation Army is providing those affected with food, clean water, sleeping places and solar lighting.
