Nicaragua

Nicaragua is the poorest country in Latin America after Haiti. It has experienced decades of internal tensions, conflicts and violence. This has resulted in considerable human loss, as well as extensive emotional damage and a heavy psychological burden for the population. Children suffer particularly badly under such traumatic conditions. The Salvation Army wants to improve and protect the emotional health of children in Nicaragua. Through psychological support, professional workshops and child-friendly education on relevant topics, children will learn to process their experiences and look forward to a promising future. Forty boys and forty girls will take part in the initial phase of the project, which will then be expanded in stages. The aim is to ensure that as many children as possible enjoy the right to a childhood free from trauma. The children will experience life beyond fear and negativity and learn to better handle stressful situations and emotions.
