The first protest by trans people in Pakistan took place in 2022. Their situation remains difficult: they are persecuted and are often subjected to serious violence. Trans people in Pakistan often live in the shadows, and are forced to beg or sell their bodies just to survive. In Lahore, the Salvation Army is supporting the integration and economic development of trans people. The project offers training to members of the trans community, allowing them to bolster their self-esteem and earn a better income through new employment opportunities. It also takes steps to raise awareness about trans rights among the general population. The project advocates strongly for a positive representation of trans people and for their acceptance in society. It contributes to their protection and provides them with employment opportunities so that they can live with independence and dignity.
